Preventing the transplant of sediment

During construction, water quality is a major concern to all regulatory agencies. Therefor, construction will always include sedimentation and ersosion controls such as silt fence, hay bales and/or stone check dams to stop the spread of silt and sediment.

Fish Passageways or Fish Ladders

Fishways allow for the free movement or migration of fish. They are used to help with the restoration of deplete species. In the past these fishways have been mandated by regulatory agencies while dames are repaired, or sometimes they are publicly funded in critical restoration areas. They can consist of prefabricated structures or they can be constructed in place with a variety of materials such as metal or concrete. As the name suggests, they resemble ladders or steps often with resting pools that allow fish to jump to higher elevations though a series of staggered pools.

Bever Fence/Trash rack

Bever fences are designed to prevent beavers from plugging inlets/outlets or building beaver dams across spillways. Since debris built up by beavers can impede flow and raise water levels, it is important to prevent them from constructing their dams or plugging low level outlets. Beaver fencing, situated upstream of the spillway and/or intake for an outlet, allows beavers to build there dams away from the spillway, under controlled conditions. A trash rack is the term for a screen over a sluice gate (or valve) to prevent sticks and dibris from restricting the gate or water flow. We have made trash racks with a hoist that can remove it from the water for easy cleaning.
